Social and Eco Justice
- Service, whatever particular form it takes, always seeks to integrate the effort of Jesuit Volunteers in the pervasive activity of God that even now redeems creation from the varieties of greed, ignorance and callousness desecrating it.
- The faith of JVC is shown in our work for justice. In the spirit of the Gospel, we make a conscious decision or option for the poor, committing ourselves to work with them, directly or indirectly, in solidarity.
- In the spirit of our time, we read the Gospel expansively, recognizing the vulnerability, suffering and promise of the poor in all living beings, human and otherwise.
- Thus the justice for which we work is ecological at its root. Ecological justice signifies a moral maturation that no longer pits the well-being of humans against the good of their creaturely kin.
